Spring flood: Gatineau is continuing its efforts, and the Canadian Armed Forces�have been deployed

Gatineau, April 21, 2019. – Gatineau is continuing to monitor the situation closely. All�hands are on deck. The Canadian Armed Forces joined the municipal employees on the ground this morning.

Situation update

●	In the past few hours, the rise in water levels has slowed, even stabilized. Levels are currently below yesterday's projections. No precipitation is forecast for today or tomorrow.

●

The Canadian Armed Forces�have arrived to lend a�hand. Twenty-five military personnel have been deployed to Gatineau. Today, they are inspecting the flooded roads, in particular rue Hurtubise and chemin du Fer-�-Cheval. They are also�helping out at the three sandbag distribution sites. They are presently at the busiest locations:
- parc Racicot;
- the corner of Saint-Louis and Moreau; and
- the corner of Saint-Andr� and Saint-Paul.

●	So far, 37 households have registered with municipal officials: 63 adults and 16 children.

●	Flood victims who are evacuating their homes are reminded to register: - by going to the victims assistance centre at centre communautaire Jean-Ren�-Monette (89 rue Jean-Ren�-Monette); OR - by calling 311, option 6.

Update on the road disruptions

●	The presence of water has affected traffic in certain sectors. You will find a map with real time updates at gatineau.ca/flood.

●	At the time of publication, the situation was as follows: Street closures: - rue Saint-Louis between Blais and Moreau; and - rue Ren� between Oscar and Saint-Louis;

●

Streets restricted to local traffic only:
- rue Oscar;
- rue Saint-Louis between autoroute 50 and rue Blais;
- rue Blais between the dead end and rue Saint-Louis;
- rue Ad�lard;
- rue Ren� between the dead end and rue Oscar, and between Saint-Louis and Saint-Fran�ois-Xavier;
- rue Jacques-Cartier between de la Baie and Saint-Louis;
- rue Riviera;
- Saint-Patrice, Saint-Paul and Glaude between Saint-Sauveur and Riviera;
- rue de Versailles between rue Watt and boulevard Hurtubise;
- rue Campeau between rue Notre-Dame and boulevard Hurtubise;
- boulevard Hurtubise; and
- chemin du Fer-�-Cheval between chemin du Quai and the dead end.

●	Gatineau asks that everyone avoid driving through the flooded areas in order to ensure that they remain accessible to response vehicles. The situation can be viewed online.
