Spring flood: Reminder of the Ministère de la Sécurité publique information evenings at 7 p.m. on May 21 and 22 at the centre sportif

Gatineau, May 21, 2019. - Gatineau would like to remind flood victims of the two information evenings being held by the Ministère de la Sécurité publique (MSP). These will take place tonight and tomorrow evening at the centre sportif de Gatineau, at 850 boulevard de la Gappe. The purpose of the evenings is to present the new financial assistance program of the gouvernement du Québec and to answer questions from the flood victims.


Quick facts

After the presentations, flood victims will be able to set up an appointment with a claims officer of MSP on site.
The appointments will be held starting on May 22 in temporary offices set up at aréna Campeau (165 rue des Sables).
Flood victims can file a claim online right now under the Government of Quebec financial assistance program.
Gatineau's Service de l'urbanisme et du développement durable will have a booth at the information evening sessions. Our representatives will be on hand to explain the applicable rules and the steps that flood victims should take, particularly in regard to applying for permits and demolition certificates.
The following partners will also be on hand to answer questions from the flood victims: Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l'Outaouais (CISSSO), the Red Cross, Hydro-Québec, Gazifère, the Insurance Bureau of Canada, the local employment centre, Service Canada and organizations helping with relocations.

Transportation and parking for the flood victims

There will be a shuttle service to take the flood victims to the information evenings. Departure is at 6 p.m. from the following locations (consult the carte interactive at gatineau.ca/flood) :
- Centre sportif Robert-Rochon, at 97 rue de l'Aréna, Masson-Angers sector;
- Rue de Versailles in front of the Sainte-Maria Goretti church, at 664 rue Duberger, Gatineau sector;
- CPE Le Bonjour, at 33 rue de la Baie, Gatineau sector; and
- At the corner of rues Deschênes and Arthur-Whelan (in front of 13, rue Deschênes), Aylmer sector.
After both sessions, the shuttles will pick up the flood victims where they dropped them off, and return them to their original departure points.
Parking will be free at the centre sportif and at the Cégep de l'Outaouais next to the centre sportif during both sessions.
