Gatineau, April 19, 2023. – Water levels continue to rise, at the rate of approximately one centimetre hourly. Projections remain unchanged. Crews continue to prepare and monitor developments in the field.
Sandbags are being delivered to the distribution sites throughout the territory in the high-risk areas. An additional sandbag distribution site has been set up at the corner of rue Carmen and boulevard de la Gappe in the Gatineau sector.
The placement of rockfill is continuing on boulevard Hurtubise Ouest and chemin du Fer-à-Cheval. This operation should be completed around 9 p.m. Crews will then continue on boulevard Hurtubise Est right after.
Service de sécurité incendie crews have started going door to door in Pointe-Gatineau and on rue Jacques-Cartier to check on homes in the areas that could be affected. They will resume their operations tomorrow in the other sectors.
